Youth Ministry 102
On January 14, 2012, we’ll host our second annual YM102. We will begin with some activities designed to help our youth think theologically. Then we’ll move into an Open Forum time, providing an opportunity to share and discuss some of the material we heard about in the Equipping Workshops that were offered last spring and this past fall, as we focus on big questions facing youth ministry today.
In her book, Almost Christian, Kenda Creasy Dean asks “What contributes to a consequential faith— the kind of faith that makes a difference to a teenager’s way of life?” Let’s come together for a morning of conversation – questions, concerns, thoughts, ideas – about we can learn from studies in youth and religion and to share what is working for you in your youth ministry context.
This workshop is open to ALL YM adults working with, volunteering for, serving in, coordinating, directing – whatever your congregation calls it – congregational Youth Ministry programs. You don’t need to have attended the Equipping Sessions to join the conversation.
It is our hope that this event will enable attendees to leave engaged in new relationships, equipped with knowledge about resources and opportunities, and empowered with new ideas for Youth and Family Ministry in your congregations and our Synod in the coming year.
