Chi Rho Information

Chi Rho is Metro DC Synod’s annual servant event for senior high youth. In July 2007, 40 youth and 13 adults traveled to Neon, KY to work with HOMES (Housing Oriented Ministries Established for Service), a non-profit organization that provides affordable housing for low-income families through the use of government grants and volunteers. Working on two demolition sites, we removed over 30 tons of debris and burned 10 dump-truck loads of wood. We provided 1,800 hours of sweat equity, which, combined with our participation fees, provided over $30,000 for future HOMES projects.

The 53 participants are members of 11 different congregations:

Peace Lutheran Church – Waldorf, MD
St. Luke Lutheran Church – Silver Spring, MD
St. Mark’s Lutheran Church – Springfield, VA.
