ChiRho 08 Registration

CHI RHO is an annual weeklong servant event trip to Neon, KY for Metro DC Synod Senior High (9th – 12th grade) youth. It is an opportunity for young people in the Metro DC Synod to serve God while making a difference in the lives of others. We will enjoy the fellowship of working toward a common cause and discover that faith demands action beyond the confines of our immediate experience.

When: July 20-26, 2008
Who: Ninth to Twelfth Grade and Adults
Where: Neon, Kentucky
Why: To rebuild homes/cabins and lives, to share God’s love, to have fun while we work, and to learn more about Christian Servanthood.

CHI RHO is a servant event designed to benefit both the youth and adults involved, and those we serve. In order to accomplish this goal, it is important that all participants should understand that, while planned as a fun and spiritually enriching event, CHI RHO is first and foremost a working camp. IT WILL INVOLVE CHALLENGING PHYSICAL LABOR FOR MOST OF THE WEEK. Participants need not have a background in building or construction, but they must be willing to work hard and give of themselves for the benefit of others.

  • All participants will respect the personal property of others and of the event site(s) and if responsible for damage, to pay for it.
  • Full participation in all activities is required.
  • Participants are expected to return to and remain in their rooms at lights out, respecting the need for rest.
  • Directions from adult leaders will be heeded.
  • Alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs, weapons, and fireworks are prohibited.
  • All participants will respect the feelings and viewpoints of others, and will keep in mind they are representing Lutherans throughout the Washington metro area.
  • Participants will make sure that an adult leader knows where they are at all times. If it becomes necessary for an individual or small group to go somewhere, they will discuss with a leader before going.

Failure to comply with these expectations can result in termination as deemed by the trip coordinator. If necessary, arrangements will be made for the participant(s) to return home early at additional parental/guardian expense.
