Chrysalis 2006 Service Projects
Below are listed the service projects the congregations who attended Chrysalis in 2006 committed to.
Each project has it’s own page where people can post comments with encouragement, prayer requests, updates and general information.
People are up to some cool stuff, so make sure to check back often to keep up to date.
Service Projects
Long term is to Build School in Africa using our Sister Synod and Sister Congregation as a partner, begin with Chi Rho this summer.
Internal service to those in the congregation which will lead to a goal of sending a group to Chi Rho.
Christ the King (Great Falls, VA)
Transforming relationships within the congregation which will lead to working as a group at Hunters Woods focusing on building relationships between youth and senior citizens.
Christ the Servant (Montgomery Village, MD)
Rejuvenate a “run-down” park.
Hold a local concert as a fundraiser for LAWS (Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter) and establish a relationship between the community and the church.
Expanding the First Friday Film Festival to the community and asking donations of food as admission.
Plan, develop and implement a new ministry that will focus on a different need in the D.C. area focused on helping the disenfranchised and poor.
Serve at N St Village during their 30 Hour Famine.
Helping families in their community through the project Mend-a-House.
Good Shepherd (Woodbridge, VA)
Send a group to Chi Rho to help there and to Buloxi to help with Hurricane relief.
Holy Trinity (Falls Church, VA)
Introducing Bloodwater to the congregation and community while raising funds to support their cause.
Serving meals at the N St. Village.
Working with children and youth at NOVACO by participating in monthly projects such as tutoring and art as well as sponsoring a summer camp for under privileged children.
Lord of Life (Fairfax/Centreville, VA)
Multi-generational Hurricane Relief mission trip, adopting an LSS family apartment and several other projects.
New Jerusalem and Zion Lutheran (Lovettsville, VA)
On Sunday December 17, HS youth from New Jerusalem and Zion Lutheran churches joined together to pack 12 food boxes for the needy in our community.
To work at a men’s and women’s shelter and to write letters.
Prince of Peace (Gaithersburg, MD)
“Good Shepard” program with the Dayspring Community Church and an urban work camp.
Monthly projects to raise money for Bloodwater, working with Holy Trinity in Falls Church on some of these projects.
Attend Chi Rho and serve meals at N St. Village.
Adopt a juvenile and work with an advocacy program.
Working with the women who are residence at the N St. Village and their arts and crafts program.
Send a group to a work camp.
Explore issues of homelessness in Calvert County and how to best help them.
Attend Chi Rho.
